The golden trio were presented to the public for the first time at a press conference held on August 23, 2000. They were all set to play Harry, Ron, and Hermione two days earlier. At the time, Daniel was 11 years old, Rupert was 12 years old, and Emma was 10 years old.
Seeing them act in the Harry Potter movies and grow up right before our eyes until the last film shows that they were the right choices.
When the director, producer, and writer found the actors, this is what they said:
Christopher Columbus “During our search for Harry, we met a lot of very skilled kids. The process was challenging, and there were times when we thought we’d never find someone who could capture Harry Potter’s spirit and depth. Then Dan walked into the room, and we all knew we’d found Harry. When we met Emma and Rupert, who plays Hermione and Ron, we were just as happy as they were. I couldn’t be more pleased to start working with young actors who are so talented and inspiring. ”
David Heyman: “Even though the rumours about what we’re doing have amused and confused us, we’re glad to put them to rest finally.” These British kids are skilled and will bring a lot to the movie. We have always been committed to staying true to the book, and we still are. ”
J. K. Rowling: “I don’t think Chris Columbus could have found a better Harry than Dan Radcliffe’s screen test.” I wish Dan, Emma, and Rupert the best of luck and hope their first year at Hogwarts is as fun to act out as it was to write.”
