10 Reasons Phoebe Buffay Was the Best ‘Friends’ Character

Everyone knows the show Friends and all the characters who made it a household name more than 20 years after it first aired. There are a lot of fans who watched it for all ten seasons and can remember every line. Friends fans can buy many different things, like a Friends Lego set. Even though every character in the series is liked and has a personality, Phoebe Buffay is the fan-favorite (Lisa Kudrow).

Phoebe has always been the odd one in a cast that is primarily straight-laced. Even though she has had some bad things happen to her, she is happy, kind, and has a free spirit. Still, her most admirable trait is that she doesn’t try too hard to make everyone happy and is always herself. There are a lot of classic and memorable Phoebe moments, but we chose the ones that are the most important.

Sexy Phlegm (Season 4, Episode 5)

Phoebe is known for writing and performing strange songs and sometimes still does so at Central Perk, a coffee shop that Friends fans love. But in one episode, Phoebe gets sick right before she has to perform.

Putting Your Finger in the Soda (Season 1, Episode 3)

Phoebe has a charming, childlike air about her. Phoebe thinks things are bad when most people think they are lucky. As a thank-you for being honest, the bank gives her $500 and a football-shaped phone.

Phoebe repeatedly tries to show Mike and his family how valuable she is. She tells Mike’s father that he looks good and then gives him a playful punch when he just had surgery.

Phoebe Runs Weird (Season 6, Episode 7)

Rachel invites Phoebe to run in the park with her. Phoebe tells Rachel to go ahead and that she will catch up with her when they get there. Rachel notices Phoebe’s strange way of running when she sees her running past her. Rachel tells Ross and Monica about this story later at Central Perk. She says that Phoebe’s run was like “a cross between Kermit the Frog and the Six Million Dollar Man.”

The mother of Phoebe is a cat (Season 4, Episode 2)

In “The One With the Cat,” when a cat comes up to Phoebe in Central Park, she thinks it is her dead mother coming back to life. She is a firm believer in the spiritual world, so she believes in reincarnation and connects it to the fact that her mother has found a way to be with her again, but this time as a cat. Ross is surprised by what Phoebe thinks, so he goes out of his way to show her that she is wrong.

Having the three babies (Season 5, Episode 3)

Phoebe finds out that her brother Frank and his wife, Alice, who used to teach economics and is now his wife, are trying to have children but can’t. Phoebe, who is more than just an average person, decides that she will be the surrogate for her brother and his wife.

What Phoebe Thought When Monica and Chandler Did It (Season 5, Episode 14)

When Phoebe and Rachel find out that Monica and Chandler are dating, it is one of the favorite parts of the whole show. Ross finally gets a new place. It used to belong to the “ugly naked guy,” who is never seen but whose apartment is right next to Monica’s. Ross leaves Phoebe and Rachel in his apartment while he goes to sign his new lease. Soon after that, they see something strange going on outside their window.

Her Wedding to Mike (Season 10, Episode 12)

Some people are worried about the storm, but Monica is angry that all of her careful planning has been for nothing.

Banana Hammock Princess Consuela (Season 10, Episode 14)

Phoebe tries to change her name to Phoebe Hannigan after she gets married. She changes her name to Princess Consuela Banana Hammock after a government worker tells her she can pick any name she wants. Of course, only Phoebe could come up with a name like that.

Something is wrong with the left phalanx (Season 10, Episode 17)

Without a doubt, the last episode of Friends is the saddest episode ever. To get Rachel back, Phoebe drives Ross to JFK airport to stop Rachel from leaving for her new job in Paris. Monica tells them they’re at the wrong airport, which is terrible news for Ross. Since they don’t have much time left, they drive to the other airport as fast as possible. On the way, Phoebe calls Rachel and tries to convince her that “something is wrong with the left phalange.”
