Who is the Most Liked Character on FRIENDS? Fans Finally Decided

If you asked your friends what shows they’re currently binge-watching on social media, they’d likely mention the popular ’90s sitcom Friends. The show, which lasted a whopping 236 episodes and introduced the world to Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler, Ross, and Joey, has remained one of the most beloved and popular sitcoms of all time for more than 25 years. Netflix paid WarnerMedia $100 million for the right to stream the show for a year (via The Economist). Friends was the most-watched show on Netflix in 2018, with 32.6 billion minutes watched (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Because of the show’s cultural zeitgeist, even people who have never seen an episode are familiar with the characters and storylines. Almost everyone has a favorite and most minor favorite friend.

And the winner is…

Even so, fans favor one character over the others, and the numbers surprised us. Some argue that Ross is too whiney or Rachel is too spoiled to be likable. Joey is too stupid, and Phoebe is too flighty… However, as a group, they could balance each other’s flaws and share so much love that the entire world fell in love with them.

A poll of over 3,000 fans revealed an absolute favorite: Miss Phoebe Buffay. The spiritual, quirky, free-spirited optimist received 33% of the vote, with fashionista Rachel Green coming in second place with 27%. With 21% of the vote, Chandler Bing came in second, and the rest of the characters didn’t even come close. Monica Gellar came in fourth place with 9% of the vote, while Joey Tribiani and Ross Gellar received so few votes that they combined for less than 10%.

So, in response to his famous question, “How are you?” “Not so hot,” Joey would probably say, while Ross would say that he is ” fine, ” despite all evidence to the contrary that he is “fine.”
