Why The Fans Of Bernadette Are Still Confused about Her Bed Rest

Bernadette  (Melissa Rauch), a microbiologist, joined the CBS smash hit “The Big Bang Theory” in its third season as a Cheesecake Factory waitress with Penny (Kaley Cuoco). By Season 4, she was a regular on the show. She quickly fits in with the show’s high-IQ group of geeky Caltech friends, like easygoing experimental physicist Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki), tongue-tied astrophysicist Raj Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar), high-maintenance theoretical particle physicist Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), aerospace engineer and want to be ladies’ man Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg), and earnest neuro (Mayim Bialik).

Bernadette was awkward and shy on her first date with Howard, but she ends up being a superconfident, high-powered young woman who can hold her own among the show’s Mensa-level group of friends. She marries Howard and has two children with him. Bernadette spends a lot of time in bed during her second pregnancy, as shown on camera. And while the rest is explained in the show by the fact that her character works too hard and needs to take it easy, some fans find it hard to believe that she would need to be in bed for so long.

Fans wonder why Bernie is still in bed for so long.

In the subreddit for the show, u/DawnsLopunny asked why Bernadette has been in bed for so long. But Reddit user u/Significant Curve286 quickly ended the mystery by saying, “In reality, that was an attempt to help Rauch. Who had lost a baby in her last pregnancy.” They also gave a link to Melissa Rauch’s essay in Glamour. In which she talked about her first miscarriage and said she was pregnant again.

As reported by ET, after her essay in Glamour, Rauch wanted to do more to bring attention to this issue. She made a powerful, profoundly moving public service announcement for which she was joined by other celebrities. Who had also had miscarriages, such as Kiele Sanchez, Vanna White, June Diane Raphael, and Nancy Kerrigan. On Instagram, you can see Rauch’s moving PSA. They say that up to one in four pregnancies ends in a miscarriage but that no one should feel ashamed or deal with this problem alone.
