10 Things You Probably Didn’t Know About Rupert Grint

Numerous outstanding actors and actresses were sent into the world by the Harry Potter movie series. Almost all of the kids in the franchise’s core cast were new to acting when they first made an appearance, but each one has since gone on to show that they weren’t chosen from obscurity to disappear after the series was over. Nevertheless, the franchise’s amazingly skilled young performers were the biggest surprise. Since the end of the series, Rupert Grint has distinguished himself as one such young performer. If you’re a fan of the actor (and Ron Weasley), you probably know a few things about him, but there are indeed a few facts about Rupert Grint that you don’t know. Look down, and don’t forget to vote for your favorites from this list of the young actor’s most fascinating facts!

He Earned A Guinness World Record In 2020

There isn’t much information online about Rupert Grint’s social media activity. That is because, until 2020, he hadn’t exposed himself to many social media platforms. He quickly attained a million followers after signing up on Instagram in November 2020. Grint achieved a Guinness World Record due to his followers’ evident desire to view what he wanted the world to know. More quickly than anyone before him, he could reach one million followers. He achieved that score in under four hours and one minute.

He shared the image above when he first joined, writing, “Hey Instagram… only ten years late, but here I am. Smile for the camera! I’m here to introduce Wednesday G. Grint to you all. Be careful, Rupert. His following totaled 4.4 million as of July 2021. He gained a million followers in four hours and forty-four minutes in September 2020. With 241 minutes remaining, Grint has taken the lead, making it challenging for another famous person to overtake him. Sir David Attenborough held the previous record.

He Sent In An Audition Tape Of Himself Rapping And Won The Part Of Ron Weasley

Children from all over the United Kingdom flocked to the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone casting call in search of a part in the movie. Since the production was looking for unknowns for the lead roles, a large portion of the casting was done through open auditions. Rupert Grint responded to the casting call for one of these roles, Ron Weasley.

At this point, he hadn’t performed in any school plays but had done some professional acting. He decided to rap in his video for whatever motive he had in mind. He created a rap arguing his case for why he was the ideal Ronald Weasley, and not only did it succeed, but he also showed he was right! Because he has ginger hair, Grint believed he would automatically win because he adored the book and the character.

He Had The Fastest Lap On ‘Top Gear’ For A Bit

During the 15th season of Top Gear, Rupert Grint visited and discussed his life, Harry Potter, and his fixation with ice cream vans, among other topics. He completed a lap and some funniest and craziest faces you may anticipate seeing on the young actor’s face. Peter Jones from Dragons’ Den was in the lead for the quickest lap when Grint arrived, and he was prepared to overtake him. He completed the lap “neat and tidy,” which allowed him to eventually cross the finish line at a record rate and displace Jones from the top of the list. In the end, he finished in one minute and 45.5 seconds.

He Wasn’t Allowed Within Five Meters Of Alan Rickman’s Car.

When Ron Weasley was a student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, he and Professor Severus Snape didn’t exactly get along. Some people could conclude there was no chemistry between the performers because of their on-screen performance, or rather because there wasn’t any. Because Alan Rickman and Rupert Grint are such talented actors and get along so well off-camera, it’s simple to draw that conclusion. While filming, Grint and co-star Matthew Lewis (Neville Longbottom) was in one of Rickman’s older vehicles. However, one event that occurred while Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire were being filmed caused a rift between the two performers. More precisely, it positioned Grint’s vehicle in opposition to Rickman’s.

Rickman purchased a brand-new BMW during the production of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, which he prevented Grint and Lewis from entering. In reality, they were not permitted to approach the car closer than five meters, or 16.5 feet! Rickman was upset because a milkshake was spilled.

He Wanted To Be An Ice Cream Man When He Grew Up

Rupert Grint’s dream was to work as an ice cream vendor, not as an actor. He brought his ice cream truck to the site on the last day of the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows filming. In 2014, he stated to the Daily Mail:

I bought the Bedford van because my initial goal was to work as an ice cream man. Soon after I acquired it, I pulled into a pub to make a U-turn, and eight youngsters were waiting outside with their pocket money in hand, hoping to buy a 99 or something similar. I, however, had nothing to offer them. Since then, I’ve learned my lesson.

He Channeled Ron Perfectly And Didn’t Do His Homework.

To ensure his young actors understood their parts in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, director Alfonso Cuarón had Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint write an essay about their characters. The young performers ultimately used their personas as inspiration for how they carried out their tasks.

Watson expected to submit a 16-page report on Hermione Granger, while Radcliffe raised a single page about his character. Grint blew off work, channeling Ron. He had several valid reasons, so it wasn’t simply for show.

Grint put off doing his “Ron” homework since he had to focus on studying for his General Certificate of Secondary Education exams. It’s also very Ron-ish to not do it, the actor added. I believe that was somewhat understood by [Cuarón].

He Said He And Daniel Radcliffe Had A Crush On Their Costar

Emma Watson was described as “a gorgeous girl” who was “popular with the cast” in an interview with FHM by Rupert Grint, who also revealed that he and Daniel Radcliffe were somewhat taken with their co-star:

I have to kiss Emma Watson on camera soon, so many people think we’re involved in something. I’ll be upfront with you: I wouldn’t say I’m dreading it. Emma has attractive features. Do Daniel or I ever make advances on Emma? She is, after all, well-liked by the cast. I’d rather not admit who Radcliffe or I have the worst crush on her.

His admission of such an attraction was possibly some form of fan service. Given what he mentioned when it was time to shoot the kissing sequence, that seems even more likely: Since we have been friends for ten years, it was similar to kissing my sister.

He Starred In Ed Sheeran’s ‘Lego House’ Music Video

It’s untrue that all gingers look identical, but if you said Ed Sheeran and Rupert Grint didn’t resemble one another, you’d be lying to yourself. The two celebs have frequently made fun of one another for this reason. Grint was chosen for Sheeran’s 2011 single “Lego House” music video due to their comparable appearances.

Grint is initially shown in the video as Sheeran. His routine activities are writing down song lyrics, relaxing on his tour van, and performing in front of an audience. Security attacks Grint, who is not Sheeran, and the story changes to show that Grint was pursuing Sheeran.

He Owns His Very Own Hovercraft

When someone becomes wealthy, as many child performers do when they reach adulthood, they tend to purchase many things. To fulfill his childhood dream of being an ice cream vendor, Grint got himself an ice cream truck, but that wasn’t the only item he bought.

He may have developed an interest in flying vehicles while filming Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, but it’s more probable that he just wanted to have some fun. He bought himself a customized hovercraft. He also purchased a strange car and an orange Range Rover for himself.

Grint sensibly observed that as his wealth grew and he could not invest, “…but sure, it gradually got too much, too young. Simply put, I was unsure of what to do with it. It was very overpowering. I had no idea what to do with it at all. I purchased an ice cream van and a hovercraft.

Curiously, while the hovercraft was almost Grint’s final vehicle, the ice cream truck was his first automobile. Grint commented, “You can’t, really – a tree a mile away, you’re probably going to hit it,” while explaining how challenging it was to maneuver the hovercraft. It is fatal. It almost took my life.

He Appeared In An Absolute Box Office Flop In 2012

Rupert Grint has continued to work, although his name hasn’t been on many movie theatre marquees since he hung up his “Ron Weasley” robes. Nevertheless, he hasn’t been a part of anything that has garnered nearly as much attention as the Harry Potter movies have.

His career has primarily been on television, and over the past few years, he has been in several shows, including Servant, The ABC Murders, Snatch, and Sick Note. He did appear in a feature film after the last Harry Potter movie was finished, but it’s possible that you’ve never heard of it or watched it.

Grint portrayed Gunner Robert Smith in the 2012 war movie Into the White, in which a group of British and German soldiers seek refuge in the same cabin in Norway. Although the film has positive reviews on IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes, it was a financial failure when it was first released.

When Into the White debuted in the US, it was able to play in just one theatre and was only there for an incredible two weeks. It only had one tiny screen, which resulted in a $704 loss at the box office.

He Appeared In A Somewhat Unorthodox Kids Movie In 2002

Rupert Grint gained notoriety in 2001 when he portrayed Ron Weasley in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. He made a cameo in the sequel the following year, but that wasn’t the only film Grint was in. He portrayed Alan A. Allen in the rather outré children’s film Thunderpants in 2002.

You must stop what you’re doing and watch the movie if you haven’t already (after reading this, of course). Patrick Smash, a little child, has two stomachs from birth, which makes him quite flatulent. He can physically knock people over with his gassy toots by age ten. Alan (Grint), who lacks scent due to anosmia, is his sole companion. You can probably anticipate how Smash utilizes his “gift” to navigate space once he realizes his dream of becoming an astronaut.

Is Thunderpants a worthwhile film? Not really, but if you enjoy fart humor, you’ll find it amusing. In this crazy but amusing children’s movie, little Rupert Grint plays Alan A. Allen perfectly, which is fun to witness.
