A Major Harry Potter Villain is linked to a Hogwarts Legacy Character.

Hogwarts Legacy is set 100 years before the events of the Harry Potter books and films. This means that there is no Harry Potter, Voldermort, or any other character who ties the two directly, but there is a lot of indirect connection. The Weasley family, for example, is included in Hogwarts Legacy, even though none of the Weasleys from the books and movies are. Victor Rookwood, meanwhile, is one of the game’s key antagonists. If this name seems familiar to you, it’s most likely because you’re familiar with Augustus Rookwood.

Augustus Rookwood was a Death Eater and a Dark Wizard devoted to Voldemort. Rookwood is a former Unspeakable for the Ministry of Magic’s Department of Mysteries, which he infiltrated as a spy. He is first referenced in Harry Potter, and the Goblet of Fire and subsequently makes his first appearance in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 both feature him. In Harry Potter lore, he’s a key Death Eater figure, and Augustus Rookwood appears to be his relative. The names may be coincidental, although this is quite unlikely.

It’s unclear how big of a role Victor Rookwood will play in the game, but he appears to be one of the critical villains at the very least.

Hogwarts Legacy is under development for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X. It will be released throughout the forthcoming holiday season.

The game’s official pitch is, “Hogwarts Legacy is an immersive, open-world action RPG set in the setting initially introduced in the Harry Potter books.” “As you travel through familiar and new regions, explore and uncover fascinating monsters, customize your character, make potions, master spell casting, improve abilities, and become the wizard you want to be.” Travel back in time to Hogwarts in the nineteenth century. Your character is a student who holds the key to an ancient enigma that threatens the wizarding world’s destruction. As you develop allies, battle Dark wizards, and eventually decide the fate of the wizarding world, experience what it’s like to live at Hogwarts. Your legacy is entirely up to you. The Unwritten is still alive.”
