Tom Felton, the beloved actor who played Draco Malfoy, Harry Potter’s adolescent lousy boy, has revealed that he will release a memoir this fall!
Beyond the Wand: The Magic and Mayhem of the Growing Up a Wizard is the book’s title.
Felton announced the upcoming memoir in a video message to his admirers on social media.
According to Felton, the book will detail his life, from his newfound celebrity as Hogwarts’ blondest young wizard to his interactions with fellow cast members.
Beyond the Wand’s summary reads:
“With candor and his trademark wit, Tom recounts his experiences growing up as a member of the wizarding world while also attempting to navigate the muggle world.” He talks about his first acting job, where he was mistaken for fellow blonde child actor Macaulay Culkin, and his Harry Potter audition, where he fudged how well he understood the books the series was based on (not at all), in a very Draco-like approach.”
“I’m now getting the chance to release and announce that I have written a book, and it will be coming out this October,” Felton said in his announcement video, which he teased on social media on May 25 before revealing his surprise on May 27. I wanted to express my gratitude to all of you, and I can’t wait for you to read some of the never-before-heard anecdotes from all of the Potter years and all that happened before and after.”
Fans of Harry Potter will undoubtedly be anxious to get their hands on the biography – stories they haven’t heard before? Tom Felton has a knack for grabbing the attention of Potterheads.
He teased us with two clips from Beyond the Wand as if that wasn’t enough.
“At lunchtime, we’d all gather in the canteen, which was usually a good time.” There was no division of labor. An electrician would be in line with a witch and a goblin for his lunch, followed by a cameraman, a carpenter, and Hagrid.
“They requested a break, and Gambon produced a cigarette from his beard.” He and I could frequently be seen outside the stage door, taking a ‘breath of fresh air,’ as we called it. There would be painters and plasterers, chippies and sparks, and Dumbledore and I would be smoking a cunning cigarette among them all.”
Felton isn’t the first actor from the Harry Potter franchise to become a published novelist. Bonny Wright (Ginny Weasley) and Evanna Lynch (the famous Luna Lovegood) have already released novels, and Jessie Cave (Lavender Brown) has numerous, including a book and a play.
Beyond the Wand will be released in hardback and digital format in the United Kingdom on October 13, 2022, and the United States five days later, on October 18. The book will be published by Ebury Spotlight in the United Kingdom and Grand Central Publishing in the United States.
A simultaneous audiobook version will be released, read by Felton, and published by Penguin Random House Audio in the UK and Hachette Audio in the US.
Beyond the Wand is currently available for preorder in the United States and the United Kingdom.
