When ‘Harry Potter’ Stars First Started Acting, What They Looked Like.

The Harry Potter films are classics in and of themselves, but the star-studded casts who appeared in each installment make them much more memorable. There are many familiar faces in each of the eight films, from acting giants such as Dame Maggie Smith to those who have passed away, such as Alan Rickman.

Before shooting Harry Potter, each actor had their breakout role, so we did some research to find out what those were. Some of them may astound you!

Minerva McGonagall, the Head of Gryffindor House and Harry Potter’s Transfiguration Professor, was played by Dame Maggie Smith. In ‘Othello,’ she made her debut as Desdemona (1965)

Emma Thompson is an actress and screenwriter who starred as Divination Professor Sybil Trelawney in the Harry Potter films. Since her debut in the industry, she has played a variety of iconic roles, but her career began on the rock-n-roll TV show ‘Tutti Frutti’ (1987)

Richard Harris was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance as King Arthur in the 1967 film ‘Camelot’ despite having already been in several movies. Before passing away and being replaced by Michael Gambon, he played Albus Dumbledore in the first two Harry Potter films.

Molly Weasley, the mother of Harry Potter’s best friend Ron Weasley and a mother figure for Harry, was played by Dame Julie Walters. Her award-winning acting career began with the film Educating Rita,’ in which she played the title role (1983)
