The trailer for the “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story,” starring Daniel Radcliffe as the parody artist, was released on Tuesday.
Daniel Radcliffe is best recognized for his portrayal of Harry Potter, but now he can also be seen as “Weird Al” Yankovic.
The teaser trailer for “Weird: The Al Yankovic Story,” a new biopic about the comedian, has released on Tuesday.
Radcliffe lets his hair down in the minute-long clip, shouting on stage while playing the accordion and flipping his mop of curly hair.
He wears clear-framed glasses from the 1980s and remarks, “What can I say? I’m full of surprises.”
Yankovic and Eric Appel co-wrote the screenplay, first revealed in January. Yankovic claimed he was “pleased” with Radcliffe’s casting in a statement.
He stated, “I do not doubt that this is the role that future generations will remember him for.”
The film will be available on The Roku Channel later this year.
The film “leaves nothing back, exposing every part of Yankovic’s life, from his stratospheric climb to stardom with early singles. ‘Eat It’ and ‘Like a Surgeon,’ to his torrid celebrity love relationships and famously filthy lifestyle,” according to a press release.
