Mayim Bialik, who plays Penny on The Big Bang Theory, talks about how she and Neil Patrick Harris fought. In the 1990s, they were both young stars. Bialik had a small role in Harris’ medical drama Doogie Howser, M.D. Later, he was a guest on Blossom, Bialik’s sitcom. The two young actors became friends, but it didn’t last long.
Soon, their lives went in different directions because Bialik stopped being an actress and returned to school. She returned to TV in season 3 of The Big Bang Theory, where she played Amy Farrah-Fowler. The following year, she was made a regular on the show and kept the role until the show ended in 2019. Harris, on the other hand, kept working in the business. He was in several movies and TV shows, including How I Met Your Mother as Barney Stinson and A Series of Unfortunate Events on Netflix as Count Olaf. He also did theater. His first time on stage was in the play Rent, where he played Mark Cohen.
That’s when Bialik and Harris fought in a recent guest appearance, as Bialik said on James Corden’s show, The Late Late Show. The actress and the new Jeopardy! The host said that Harris stopped talking to her after he heard her say that she didn’t want to stand up after a performance of Rent. She was talking about how she doesn’t like musicals. When she realized what had happened, she stood up to join the crowd, but it was too late. The worst part was that Harris had ensured that she and her family had good seats near the front. Read what Bialik has to say below:
“He asked me, ‘Why did you say you weren’t going to stand up?’ ” It wasn’t good. It was awful.”
Harris’s response makes sense. She said she’s not the kind who gives a standing ovation at musicals. This could be because she doesn’t like musicals in general. Still, it wasn’t nice of her not to cheer, especially since she was near the front and the performers could see her. It’s not like someone didn’t deserve a standing ovation. Harris did eventually forgive Bialik for what she had done. After all, they were friends, and Bialik had even told him that he was good in the musical. He sent her flowers when he found out she still felt bad about what had happened. But it’s not clear if they’re back to being friends.
After The Big Bang Theory, Bialik is working on her new sitcom, Call Me Kat, which is being made by her former co-star, Jim Parsons. She also runs the game show Jeopardy! As a self-proclaimed game show fan, many people were excited about her joining. However, her hiring has also brought attention to her controversial past comments about vaccines and Harvey Weinstein’s victims. Still, she will lead the show during prime-time specials and some daily episodes while the game show keeps looking for a permanent host.
