Barney Stinson has never even met Neil Patrick Harris’s kids. And they don’t know much about Harris’s career as a doctor either.
“They’ve seen a few episodes of ‘Doogie Howser, M.D.,’ but not seriously,” Harris tells Yahoo Entertainment. “And I think my husband told them they shouldn’t watch How I Met Your Mother because Barney is always such a jerk.”
Neil Patrick Harris’s nominated for four Emmys for his role. Still, the actor thinks that his twin 10-year-old children, David Burtka, Harper, and Gideon, might be ready to see that show. That’s an excellent way to describe the scheming womanizer Harris played for nine seasons until the show ended in 2014.
Neil Patrick Harris says that his kids did watch all three seasons of A Series of Unfortunate Events. The Netflix show is based on the children’s books by Daniel Handler (writing as Lemony Snicket) that ended in 2019. He thinks they will soon watch some of Doogie, a 90s drama about a teenager who works as a doctor, with him. Harris was only a teenager, and he had only done a few projects.
“I’m not involved with bringing the show back now, but I’m glad to hear that they’re doing it, and I’m looking forward to watching some episodes with my kids.”
He has worked on several other projects, including movies with another 90s star, Keanu Reeves. The fourth Matrix movie came out in December.
“I’d never even met [Keanu]. I was a fan from afar, and it was exciting to meet such an iconic kind of movie star,” Harris said in an interview during the shoot. “He’s a very nice, friendly, and smart guy, and I loved spending time with him. “Very reliable.”
