Despite her success as a child actress in the film “Beaches” and her leading part in her own sitcom, Mayim had the impression that she “wasn’t popular” in high school.
“I was the kind of child who didn’t want to talk about [my fame],” she said in her response to the question. “She didn’t care.” “I wanted to act as if it didn’t exist, but it’s difficult to do that when a lot of children are watching you on television,” Mayim said. Therefore, [while I was in school], a common refrain was, “Oh, you think you’re so hot? You gave the instructor the incorrect response in class. And at that point, it’s like, “Okay, I’m never going to put my hand up again.”
Mayim said, “boys didn’t like me in the first place because I was odd and I didn’t have breasts.” “Girls did not like me very much either because I was always drawing attention to myself. When I was in junior, I had several difficult girl situations, such as when other students said things like, “Well, we don’t want people to think we’re hanging out with you because you’re famous, so we’re just not going to hang out with you.”
At least she could overcome her challenges in high school and have a successful career in Hollywood!
