Finn Balor returned to Monday Night Raw this week, teaming up with Tommaso Ciampa to defeat The Dirty Dawgs in a tag match. That was not his only appearance on the show. Balor returned in a more significant segment. Setting up a big game next week to challenge Damian Priest for the United States Championship.
On Raw, Priest faced off against Shelton Benjamin. He quickly dispatched the former tag team champion. While praising Benjamin for the match. Priest stated afterward that he wanted a more challenging opponent because it was WrestleMania season. A priest called out anyone in the back who considered themselves a World Champion caliber WWE Superstar, saying he would “volunteer” his title next week. That drew Balor out.
Balor took the mic and responded to Priest’s comments about the champion wanting a more prominent challenger next week. Stating, Do you want to compete against a serious athlete? Do you want to go up against a serious fighter? Do you want to face a world champion? It sounds like you’re referring to me. Be cautious about what you wish for Priest. I’ll see you again next week.

This is good news for Balor fans hoping that his tag match with Ciampa wasn’t just a setup for a storyline that set up bouts for programs like NXT’s Ciampa vs. Dolph Ziggler match on Tuesday. Balor is back and will be given a shot at the US Championship could mean a run with the title leading up to WrestleMania 38.
What Happens If Balor Loses?
The disadvantage of this match is that if Priest wins, it may halt the momentum of Balor’s return. He is a main-event level star. And it doesn’t make sense for him to lose so quickly after being absent for so long.
